For more than a decade, I felt stuck.
I started my career in the agricultural sector after earning my degree in the field—not because it was my passion, but because I was lost at the time. I studied sciences, which I liked, but somehow ended up following a path that didn’t feel like mine.
I worked for 13 years in agriculture, but opportunities never came my way. I felt stagnant, unfulfilled, and invisible. Deep down, I knew I was meant for something else. I wanted to achieve something bigger, something that truly challenged me and unlocked my potential.
I have always been curious about technology and IT tools, even without a technical background. That curiosity sparked something inside me: if others could understand tech, then so could I.
Taking the Leap: My Career Transition into Data Science & AI
I took a bold step and enrolled in a Data Science & AI bootcamp. It was terrifying at first—venturing into a field that was completely new to me. There was no hand-holding, no shortcuts, and the concepts were challenging.
But I refused to give up. I took it as a personal challenge: If someone else could master these concepts, why couldn’t I? I committed myself to the process. I researched endlessly, watched countless tutorials, practiced daily, and learned to break down difficult concepts until they made sense.
Consistency became my new commitment.
Then came the smartest decision of all: I resigned from my job.
Redefining Myself as a Woman in Tech
Leaving the security of a traditional job felt uncertain, but I had already discovered what I loved. I wanted to immerse myself in Data Science and AI, and I couldn’t do that while staying in a role that drained my energy.
I believed in myself and trusted that the effort I was putting in would lead me somewhere better. I looked for roles that aligned with my new skills.
I started an internship with a start-up, which turned out to be the best decision I ever made. It gave me real-world experience and proved that learning happens on the job. Soon after, I was hired by the same start-up, which didn’t judge me for not having a “perfect” tech background.
To add, it was the first time in my career that I got a personal email address and even business cards. That opportunity changed everything for me.
What My Life Looks Like Now
Today, I work remotely—with flexible hours, slow mornings, and a peaceful work environment. I save on transportation and clothing costs, and I work with resources that are comfortable and efficient.
My colleagues are open-minded, my office setting is much better than before, and I finally feel free.
I’ve even taken my passion further by launching my own online school—iLoop—a place where I welcome people, especially women, who have similar journeys. I want to show them that they can break free from societal expectations and build a career they actually love.
To All the Women Out There
Women are often told to stick to “safe” administrative jobs or office roles with fixed hours. We’re made to believe that stepping out of that so-called “comfort zone” is risky.
But I can tell you this: those jobs aren’t always comfortable. They can be draining, repetitive, and unfulfilling. You take illogical orders from close-minded people, do the same tasks over and over, and rarely get recognized for your work.
Worst of all, there’s often a fear of speaking up because you might lose your job.
It doesn’t have to be that way. You can take control of your career and your life. Anyone can learn anything—yes, even something as technical as Data Science & AI—if you’re willing to commit, be consistent, and push through the challenges.
My Message to You
Never give up in life. You are capable of unlocking potential you never knew you had. Take that step forward, even if it’s scary. Start small, but start.
If you feel stuck, trust me—you don’t have to stay there. I was once lost, but now I’m living a life I love, and so can you.
